CIH Equipment Company, Inc. was created in 1993 to provide fast, friendly, reliable equipment rental. Our inventory includes air samplers, IAQ monitors, gas detectors, noise monitoring instruments, heat stress monitors, particle analyzers, microbial impactors, velocity instrumentation plus other equipment.
Our first calibration lab was later developed for sound instrumentation and includes an anechoic chamber and Bruel & Kjaer instrumentation. Later developments include a wind tunnel, thermal probe calibrator, environmental chamber for heat stress monitors, mass concentration aerosol laboratory, multi-channel particle counter lab, and primary standards for flow calibrations.
CIH Equipment Company, Inc. is owned by David J. Silver. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Master of Science in Industrial Hygiene from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He also holds his Ph.D. in Public Health from University of South Florida.
To ensure the production of accurate calibration data, CIHE holds to a strict Quality Assurance Program (QAP). This program ensures the customer that a high standard of accuracy, reliability and impartiality are consistently applied to all services rendered by the laboratory.
Founded in 1993 with only three employees, CIHE, Inc. now has eight calibration laboratories and is the only firm of its type that rents, calibrates and repairs industrial hygiene equipment.
We provide fast turnaround times on calibration services and offer replacement rental equipment when desired. CIHE also provides online services for tracking shipping of rentals, repairs and calibrations.
We are committed to the highest industry standards and use NIST traceable standards, conform to ISO/IEC Guide 25 "General Requirements for the Competence of Calibration and Testing Laboratories" and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1, "Calibration Laboratories and Measuring and Test Equipment - General Requirements," in our documented quality system. These standards provide specific guidance for establishing a quality system for calibration and testing laboratories. A major requirement of these standards is documentation of the laboratory quality system through a quality manual, laboratory procedures and administrative procedures. The Z 540-1-1994 standard was adopted in NIST Handbook 143, Program Handbook in 1996 and includes additional OWM comments and requirements. (The system is currently being updated to ISO 17025)
